DRAUGHT PROOFING SASH WINDOWS

Sash Doctor uses a method for reducing draughts with discretely positioned seals that conserve energy and improve thermal comfort.

 

Many timber windows are inherently draughty. With gaps of 3mm and more around the edge, they typically account for 20% of the heat loss from your home.

Our sealing system will usually reduce this heat loss by about 80%. It will also reduce noise transmission, dust penetration and eliminate rattles during windy weather. About one fifth of a home's heating is lost through windows, most of which escapes through air gaps rather than through the glass. Research has shown that air infiltration through a sash window in good condition can be reduced by as much as 80% by adding a draught-proofing and it has the added advantage of reducing noise and dust.

While you may wish to retain the weathered fixtures of your windows, a complete range of quality brass locks, stops and fasteners are available.

REFURBISHMENT

All sliding sash windows can be renovated by the renewal of component parts.

Where sashes and sills are beyond durable repair we will handcraft faithful replacements to fit your original frame. Only in exceptional circumstances should it be necessary to replace the complete window.

furniture, which is specially selected for being high quality, hard wearing and elegant. Our standard finishes are brass, polished chrome and brushed chrome.
